I know it looks like a good game on paper, but I have almost no interest in the Super Bowl. With all the hype, endless stupid commercials and lame music acts, I’m going to pass on the game for the third year in a row….

I’ll DVR the game and get through it in about an hour, or maybe I’ll pass all together and watch the highlights….

I couldn’t care less about either team and will probably be in the gym during the game….

One thing I can’t understand is all the hype about the commercials. I usually sit there stone-faced at one inane attempt at humor after another and am astonished at everyone around me laughing at all the nonsense….

One thing which fascinates me is the hypocrisy of Commissioner Roger Goodell….

While calling Rush Limbaugh “divisive,” he remains silent about a a man charged with pedophilia performing in the halftime show….

I love The Who and own all their CD’s, but guitarist Pete Townshend was arrested a few years ago for downloading kiddie porn and put on a UK watchlist….

    But I guess he isn’t “divisive”….

Goodell usually drops the hammer on black players and treats white coaches and executives with kid gloves, but his silence on the Townshend situation is astonishing….

I’ve been thinking a lot about the following question: Is there anything on earth as boring as college football signing day? ESPN and several web sites devote countless hours to this, all trying to convince readers who landed the best recruiting class….

Nobody has any idea, of course, because nobody has any idea how these high school superstars will perform in college. In my opinion, it’s all guesswork and nonsense to fill websites….

I have no idea how these players will perform on the next level and neither do the “experts.” But they continue to bore the hell out of everyone by ranking who had the best class….

So what compares to the boredom which is national signing day? Here’s a short list:

    -The WNBA

    -Soccer

    -MSNBC

-Super Bowl pre-game, halftime and post-game

    -American Idol

    -Dancing With the Stars

    -The college football bowl season

    -Regular season NCAA basketball

    -An Adam Sandler movie

    -Los Angeles sports talk radio

I’m sure I’ve forgotten many more, but that’s off the top of my head….

I’m watching “Man vs. Food” on the Travel Channel and they’re making a big deal out of some fat, ugly guy at Shula’s Steak House in Miami attempting to eat a 48 oz. steak in 20 minutes….

Looking at the steak, it looks easy and I guarantee I could accomplish the feat. They’re saying that 80,000 people have tried and only two have succeeded, but I could do it….

A few weeks ago, my daughter challenged me to eat 10 Del Taco cheese quesadillas and I eagerly accepted….

Not only did I win, I polished off 15….

I couldn’t compete in the hot dog eating contest, because I don’t like eating testicles and rectums. But make it a steak or quesadillas and I could compete with anyone in the world….

Okay, we’re halfway through and this p**** is already sweating and looks about ready to throw up….

But he’s ahead of pace and looks like he might do it. Eight minutes to go….

Five minutes to go and this candy ass looks ready to vomit….

Wow, the fat bastard actually did it, with 3:23 to spare. Pretty impressive, but I could beat him….

I was watching a show the other night about a Beth’s Diner in Seatlle, which challenges customers to finish a 12-egg omlette….

I could eat a 36-egg omlette, so this one looked easy to me. But when I saw the meal delivered to the table, it was a different story. They fill the omlette with an enormous amount of hash browns and the meal looks like a balloon….

Still, I know I could polish one off….

Some thoughts… I admit that, as a guy who has bashed soccer unmercifully for years, I actually bought into the World Cup this year. I thought that after the United States team bowed out I would lose all interest, but the level of play was pretty good and I followed the […]

Some thoughts… In the aftermath of LeBron James’ decision to go to Miami , the owner of his former team, the Clevelan Cadavers (yes, they are dead again), Dan Gilbert, issued a statement so over the top bitter I couldn’t believe it. Gilbert ripped The Princess about James’ narcissistic and self serving […]

Some thoughts… Okay, let’s say you are being wooed by different companies because you’ve proven to be one of the best in your field. You’re available because, frankly, you’ve outgrown your present company and they can’t afford you. You feel a sense of loyalty, yes, but you have to think […]

The best, sure-fire, fail-safe method of assuring that you hit the bullseye every time you fire a rifle is to shoot at a blank wall, THEN draw the target around the bullet-hole. I think about that every time I read or hear the after-the-fact excuses that people are still making for LeBron James every time […]

It took the Lakers winning the NBA title to awaken me from my dogmatic slumbers. Sweet revenge, made all the more sweet by the un-Lakerlike way they had to perform to win at the end. I’d ordinarily not care particularly who the unfortunate opponent was, but I have to admit that the Celts’ loss gave […]

Great hockey game to end the 2010 Winter Olympics. That Team USA was not only in it to OT, but easily could have won, proves again two of the age-old truisms about the sport: (1) a hot goalie is the great equalizer; (2) a conditioned, committed hard-working team on which everyone knows and plays his […]
  • USA Basketball Experienced a Unique Brand of 3×3 August 29, 2010
By Seth Rubinroit Reporting from Singapore- Three-on-three basketball is very common on playgrounds in America, but the United States boys’ basketball team was still very surprised when they arrived in Singapore for the inaugural Youth Olympic Games. “It is way different than anything I have played basketball-wise,” said center Kyle Caudill. “It is not like […]

  • Samaki Walker on the Shaq-Kobe Feud August 13, 2010
By Seth Rubinroit In 2001-2002, the Los Angeles Lakers were on top of the world. Led by Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant, the Lakers swept the New Jersey Nets in the NBA Finals. Two seasons later, however, the team was broken up when O’Neal was traded to the Miami Heat. Power forward Samaki Walker was […]
